Small Project

Have an old piece of furniture that needs a makeover?

Chalk

EFFECT

Give your furniture new life with our curated matt colour palette – plus the option to distress for a shabby chic look.

TIP:

To get this look, we painted one coat of Bordeaux Cream, then a topcoat of Rustic Charm.

Step 1: Choose your colour

Choose from 20 different colours available in the Dulux Chalk Effect.

Step 2: Prep

Brush down your furniture to remove any dirt or dust.

Remove any hardware and give the piece a light sand.

If your piece is a dark wood, it is likely tannin rich. This means there is a risk it will leak through to the surface. In this case, it’s best to use a tannin blocking primer, such as Dulux 1Step® Prep.

Step 3: Topcoat

Apply one coat, then wait 2 hours for it to dry.

Apply the 2nd coat.

For added protection, topcoat with Dulux Clearcoat.

Allow the final coat to dry for 7 days. Avoid putting anything on the surface as it may stick.
